Nokia has been testing the software updater application which is available now for everyone to download, this software will allow the user to update the software on their own Nokia mobile device, this can be done now without the need to visit and engineer or a Nokia dealer.

nokiaThis service has become an essential tool now especially as the modern mobile phone is carrying around more and more software than ever, which means that there is the potential for a software breakdown or even a virus attack, which can affect the running of the phone and its ability to operate properly.

There was an update recently which was available for owners of the Nokia N80, this software update enable the phone to support internet calls, which just goes to prove that the service is going to be a invaluable service for added new software and updating the phones with the latest software.

In order to receive the phone software updates, all the user would need to do, is go to the Nokia website, check the mobile phone of choice and it will show the methods of downloading the software updates, either over the air or via a computer, once the method is found then it is just a matter of installing and running the program on the computer and then connecting the phone to the computer via the USB port, and then the update is complete, if the phone is able to receive the software updates over the air, then nothing could be simpler, the phone gets the updates directly over the air, no need for a computer, but an access to the internet, but this way there will be mobile phone charges, whereas with the computer method there are no charges that will apply as this is done over the internet.

Just remember updating to the “latest and greatest” just because you want to be current may not be the best. Believe me, I’ve been there, “it’s new, must be better” and I end up with probelms I didn;t have before. Unless you have a problem and Nokia says the latest version definately fixes it you may want to wait. I will say this, no body gives the ease of use in doing everything yourself like Nokia. They are by far the best cell maunfacturer in terms of all encompassing support, response and ease of use.

Time will come the computer will become obsolete. Everything will be handled by cellphones (internet, word, games, applications, etc.). The more updates they have, the more cumbersome it is to handle our phones. I’ll just stick with media player (video, pictures, recorder) and other basic features of the cellphone. I won’t go as far as updating softwares or whatsoever for my cellphone. It makes my life easier.
