New Sony Walkman launched in UK first

It is most unusual that the Japanese electronic company Sony have decided to launch their latest mobile portable music player the Sony Walkman in the UK before anywhere else. The Sony Walkman is an icon in portable music playing sector, it was the first purpose made device that allowed the user to play music cassettes while on the move, it could be said that the Sony Walkman is the fore runner of all portable music devices.

sony walkmanSony have released the NW A800 Walkman, there will be three models in the range the NW A808, NW A806 and the NW A805, these models all share the same technology, the only difference being the size of the memory, the NW A808 has 8 GB, the NW A806 has 4 GB and finally the NW A805 has a modest 2 GB.

The Walkman has a two inch LCD display, which will support the playback of H264, MPEG 4 avc files, MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV and of course the audio format of ATRAC3 and ATRAC3 plus. The screen is quite capable of displaying jpeg images in clear and full color. The power is provide by a Lithium Ion Battery pack, which will be good for up 30 hours of music listening and up to 6 hours of video playback.

sony walkmanThe all new Sony Walkman, is looking to be the only true competitor to Apples iPod, maybe that is why the Walkman is available in the following colors, black, white, blue and pink. At the moment the Sony Walkman NW A800 series is only available in the UK, when it is going to be on the shelves elsewhere, as of yet it is not known.

The price for this device is the NW-A808 (8GB) sells for £200 about $400 US, (8GB Apple Nano sells for $240!), NW-A806 (4GB) for £145 ($285 US) NW-A805 (2GB) for £120 ($235 US).

    It has NO AM-FM Radio so I will NOT buy this INCOMPLETE Walkman.
    A Waste of money.
    Those old Casette Players had AM-FM Radio.
