athlon64 6000 cpuOnce upon a time I was what most people call a AMD fanboy, bashing anybody with an Intel based computer for handing over far too much money for an inferior product. How times can change: I am now the owner of an Intel Core Duo laptop. Sad, but true.

Finally, AMD has released it’s first 3Ghz processor, and it’s about time too: the Athlon 64 X2 6000+

For more information and a review check out the report from the Xbit Labs. (Conclusion: it can compare with an Intel Core 2 Duo 6600)

Personally I don’t see what the big deal is about breaking the 3Ghz mark for AMD Processors! Time and time again they have proven superior to Intel. AMD bases it’s numbers on actual speed and Intel on performance rated speed, it is like comparing apples to oranges. Here is an independent performance test done take a look at the results!

I have used Intel processors and thought the Pentiums were the greatest processors going and then I got my first AMD processor and never looked back!! Just my thoughts on the matter IMHO!!

Yes, that is true but look like Intel now come with nice performance with processors like core 2 duo 6600, 6700, 6800…in this test we can see that Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 on 2.4GHz working like Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (3GHz) or better!

Maybe soon you will back to Intel 🙂

P.S. That test on cnet is from 2005 🙁
