5nand flash memoryI find analysts, no matter how renowned, quite a weird bunch of professionals. In my experience, more often than not they are plain right wrong, unless stating the obvious. They also seem to be well paid for playing, what I like to call, a pseudo-research based guessing game. Prudential Equity Group analyst Jesse Tortora now has “analyzed” and concluded that will very likely move to flash storage for it’s next generation s. He claims that this is because it would mean the players would be able to become smaller, more durable and battery life would increase.

“We believe that the video iPod transition from 1.8-inch hard disk drives to NAND flash memory may occur as soon as late 2007,” Tortora wrote. “Our checks indicate that Apple is considering canceling its next generation HDD-based iPod design, with the form factor refresh involving a move to NAND .”

Is it just me, or did this seem obvious anyway?
