tomatou7.jpgAsian businesses, especially from Mainland China, sometimes don’t have the best ideas for brand names and some of them are just plain silly. In Korea, they seem to have had better ideas of creating English brand names: this company just looked at some Western brand names, like maybe Apple and Orange, and decided that Tomato would seem to be a acceptable English brand. Is it just me, but this one just doesn’t seem to work?

Anyhow, little know Korean company Tomato has released a very small Personal Multimedia Player () in Korea, the Tomato U7. Weighing in at only 25g and measuring 38 x 64 x 14mm it really is very compact, but also doesn’t let you down on features: it’s 1.8″ display offers up to 65k color for playing back videos or reading e-books which can be stored on either 512MB, 1GB or 2GB internal storage depending on which version you decide on. The Tomato U7 supports an array of audio formats, namely being WMA, ASF, WAV, ASF, OCG, MP1, MP2 and . It also has a built-in microphone for recording and a FM receiver for listening to the radio when you get bored of all your stored music or you need the news or sport event coverage. The photo viewer will come in handy on family visits. You can also try some of the games the Tomato U7 has, but they all seem to be very old simple classics. You can connect the Tomato U7, which is compatible with PCs and Macs, to your computer via USB2.0 and enjoy up to 10hours of entertainment on the move due to it’s Lithium Polymer battery.

Pricing and release date are unknow, but it will be available in Korea only. As always.
