Are you fed up with using that navigation system and listening to it’s poor sound quality, especially when using it’s highly advertised “multimedia functions” such as MP3. Fed up with no actually being able to do anything else with that gadget. Or is the screen just that little bit too small?

I don’t actually own my own car at the moment, but one of my dream cars would be a nice Audi TT with one of these built in: the newly announced VoomPC-2 Car PC. And, after spending several thousand dollars on that dream car, the VoomPC-2 Enclosure (housing) comes for a mere $119 and fully functional entry level models from just under $400 from mini-box.com, who announced it today.

VoomPC-2 Car PC

The standard VoomPC-2 Car PC uses a standard mainboard with a 1.5GHz VIA C7 processor and offer USB 2.0 and Firewire for I/O and VGA and S-Video for graphics display. If you want to add other features, such as WiFi or GSM/GPRS, there are is a type 1 and type 2 PCMCIA cardbus.
I remember the first time I installed a high power audio system into a small Ford Fiesta and the main problem was that I would occasionally need people to push-start my car, as the battery had been sucked empty by the amplifier, which look similar to the VoomPC2 Enclosure. But the VoomPC-2 Car PC actually consumes less than normal car lights, by using an intelligent battery management system. You can use the VoomPC-2 for pretty much anything you can come up with…navigation system, in- , commercial use for delivery services and so on and on. Imagine building a nice TFT into your passenger seat dashboard and hooking one of these very affordable VoomPC-2 to it. I would never leave my car again…but: I will not drive for you!
