Is the LTE iPhone upon us? AT&T and Verizon are installing LTE equipment in Apple stores!
Recent, the guys at Engadget have published the first picture of an LTE equipment from AT & T installed in an Apple store located in the U.S. The installation of this type of equipment is more than strange; considering that at the moment, there are no iPhone terminals compatible with this technology. The information provided by the people at Engadget comes from an article published by BGR that stated that mobile operators are already testing iPhone terminals compatible with the LTE technology. Although these devices are available in AT & T stores, the operator has not yet launched the network on a national level. What is more, the end of the year is the probable date at which this event will occur.
According to the latest info, we found out that Verizon installed equipment in Apple stores for the same kind of LTE networks, a sign that Apple has indeed manufactured iPhone terminals compatible with the LTE network from Verizon. At the moment, neither of the two American networks have an LTE network launched nationwide so it is very unlikely that Apple will release an LTE Phone that does not have any LTE networks on which to operate. If we take a look into the past, we will remember the fact that the iPhone 2G was released with EDGE connectivity only because the network of AT & T could not support 3G connectivity. Sindsdien, starting with the iPhone 3G, Apple has constantly improved the speed of the connections to the data networks.
