This card reader is really great, it enables you to read cards that have been used previously and maybe left in a draw or from a camera, PDA or Phone that no longer works, with the Iogear card reader you can once again have a look on what is on those old memory cards.
This card reader can either be used a portable storage device, where you can have a card for different applications or storage, this is particularly useful if you are running a business where you wish to give presentations or your staff may need to visit clients, with the card reader they only need to take what is required on a card, and then other files on another etc.
The basic functions are ability to transfer data at a rate of 480 M bps, it is plug and play, so there is on software to install, and is compatible with Windows, ME/2000/XP and Mac OS X.

I purchased a SanDisc 4 GB SDHC card for my camera. At the time it did not occur to me that neither my SanDisc Image Mate 6 in 1 nor my SIIG 18-in-1 Reader/Writer would not be able to read this new version of Secure Digital. Long story short-I called IOGear tech support and was assured that this reader would work although netiher their promotional materails nor their packaging indicates that it will. Bottom Line: It works and it was a very inexpensive ($10 at CompUSA) solution to my problem.
