The Altina A680 is a SirF StarIII chipset GPS navigator with a twist: it also has a 2 Megapixel camera. It’s screen is also slightly larger than it’s competitors at 3″ (Color LCD, 480×272) and it has typical multimedia features such as MP3 and MP4 playback, plus a FM transmitter for hearing the navigation instructions over the car radio. Optionally you can also get a DVB-T receiver and/or rear parking camera.
The Altina A680 sports a Samsung 2440 CPU (@400 MHZ) and 64MB NAND RAM/128MB SDRAM . The A680 also has a SD card slot for storage. It’s 1350 mAh Lithium-Ion battery should last for a while and at 250g it isn’t too heavy for a 4″ GPS navigator.
Altina is a Taiwanes manufacturer and US or European market availability or pricing is not know yet.
One feature I would really like to see is that a GPS navigator with built-in camera takes pictures at important steps on the route: you can then easily make pictures for showing people how to get to your home, office or party location.
