Designer Profile #2: Balykin Pavel (Russia)

Sand Time WatchNot much is know about this “Sand Time” digital watch design, except that it looks pretty cool and shows obviously is shaped and works like a sand timer, until you press a button and it shows the time digits just like a traditional digital watch.
The Sand Time was designed by 22(!)-year old Balykin Pavel of Russian and won the red dot design concept award 2006 for this conceptual design.

Balykin Pavel not only one one important award, but has since 2002 been winnin several awards each year for graphical design (posters/logos) and concept designs, but sadly he does not display much of his work online on his website.

Still, defiantly a designer to watch for cool gadget concepts and possibly later products.
