Nintendo and Associated Press comes up with Wii News Channel

Its good news for the gamers, who can now stay tuned to the latest happenings around the world. This news channel can be viewed by the Wii users who can find it in their console’s Wii menu. This free news channel slated to be released on January 27 can be availed by those who have a broadband connection and the Opera Web browser. Important news items and photographs from the Associated Press can be viewed in this Wii news channel.
This latest news channel by Nintendo provides the users the opportunity of browsing by region instead of category search. Vice president and director of AP’s digital division, Jane Seagrave expressed optimism about the success of the channel and remarked “The Wii News Channel extends our global reach even further, on yet another platform, offering our news to people who otherwise might not see it”. Nintendo’s new game console and the news channel have raged great hype among the gamers.
This news channel of Associated Press will offer news in English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, and Swiss-German. However, a separate agency named Goo will be providing the Japanese news. For full two years Nintendo has signed a deal with Associated Press for providing news and photo coverage. Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 consoles seem to lag behind in pace with the surprise hit achieved by Wii for Nintendo.
