According to an article published on the website of the Sydney Morning Herald, Apple has already unleashed it lawyers on at least one website that has been hosting the iPhone skins developed for other platforms - which use the copyrighted icons to be used on the to-be-released Apple iPhone. Surprisingly Apple’s lawyers sent out letters to journalist who were just reporting about the fact and requesting the screenshots to be deleted - as these are also infringing Apples copyright.
If Apple has a valid legal point is one thing, but going after the bloggers is in any case not acceptable and as Michael Arrington of TechCrunch is quoted in the Sydney Morning Herald says, “If Apple wants to go after the guy that made the Windows Mobile skin that looks like the iPhone, fine. But to bully bloggers who are simply reporting on this is another matter.”
